The factory reset is one of the easiest ways to delete all the customizations that you have done. If you have personalized your massage chair with your desired programs, massage styles, time span, and other things, you must know how to bring back the factory settings. Just like in our mobile phones, factory reset is extremely valuable in your massage chair. Factory settings are the default settings that came in-built with the massage chair when you first bought it. How To Troubleshoot Your Massage Chair

As with any piece of electronic equipment that experiences glitches, the recommended first step is to restart the machine. Consult your massage chairs manual and follow the reset instructions.

If the problem persists once youve reset your massage chair, its time to troubleshoot. Luckily, most massage chair manuals come with a helpful troubleshooting resource section.

Be aware that, if you are not familiar with machine repair, dismantling any part of your massage chair may void the warranty if you proceed without first contacting the retailer or manufacturer. Here are a few clues that may point to specific problem:

Symptom: The massage chair is making a clicking or popping noise, and the footrest does not close completely.

Problem: The scissors may be bent, broken, or loose.

Solution: The nut that holds the scissor parts together may need t be tightened if a scissor is bent or broken, it may need to be replaced.

Symptom: The massage chair appears crooked.

Problem: The seat pad may have been worn down through repeated use.

Solution: Replacing the seat pad will likely solve this problem.

Symptom: The massage chair motor runs, but the mechanism doesnt move.

Problem: Inadequate space between the massage chair and the wall may have put undue stress on the internal framework, causing the T-bar to become disconnected or the scissors to bend.

Symptom: The airbags do not inflate during a massage session.

Problem: The tubing for the air pump may be broken or disconnected.

Check The Airbag Connections

If the airbags on your chair stop working or individual airbags stop working there are a few things it could be. If all the airbags stop working check the connections for the air pump that is inflating the airbag. Check both the air and power connections. It is also possible that the motor itself has burned out if the connections are okay.

If an individual airbag has stopped inflating, check the air connections and hoses for that airbag. Some massage chairs have over 100 airbags. There can be a very complex system inside the chair to independently inflate all of them. Listen to the airbag itself for air leaks if all the connections seem okay and air is flowing into the airbag but its not inflating.

Are All Massage Chairs Created Equal

Chair owners tend to think that all massage chairs are created equally, in that they think that chair parts are interchangeable from one brand or model to the next. Folks also tend to think that their chair doesn’t need any new parts…that it just needs to be fixed! Few and far between are the cases where a part is not needed to get a massage chair working again. Maybe a hose has become disconnected or some bolts and screws need tightening. But, from my long experience, a chair failure is usually related to a part failure.

When we get a call about a massage chair problem, and it’s a model that we don’t carry, whether it is discontinued or not, we always recommend that the customer call the retailer from whom they purchased their chair or, at the very least, the distributor of the chair if it s a direct-to-consumer sales model for that chair.

I know that many of these cheaper direct-to-consumer massage chair companies have very little in the way of customer support, let alone a healthy parts supply, but you really do have to try to reach them for troubleshooting of the problem or for getting needed replacement parts. I am familiar with one of these distributors who sell a chair for around $1500, and they don’t even have parts for their chair model at all, let alone any semblance of a good tech support department! They probably figure that at such a low price, the customer can just buy another massage chair!
